Parasite is a film directed by Bong Joon-Ho (봉준호) that follows the Kim family, a poor family sharing a roof in a semi-basement, and their elaborate and ingenious scheme in tricking the affluent and naive Park family into making them their servants. After successfully infiltrating the Park family, the family ultimately becomes responsible for the livelihood of the Kim family, who relies on their income/assets. But unbeknownst to the Kims, the Park house harbors a dark secret which could cause the collapse of the newly formed symbiosis.

Utilizing this concept of stealing and leeching, we wanted to create a sequence that showcases the admirable teamwork that the Kim family demonstrated in working together in becoming the Park family’s “parasite”. Although the Kim family was successful in their plans of infiltration, because of the class situation that the family was born into, they ultimately could never become more than what they started out to be. Following this sequence of small ants stealing crumbs from a cake, we see the value of teamwork between the ants in creating something seemingly large to them, but in reality is nothing larger than even sheets of paper on a table.
